R. Scott Clayton, Esquire, is an associate in the firm of Linkhorst & Hockin, P.A. Mr. Clayton graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 1995 with a bachelor of science in fine art. Mr. Clayton graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2004. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Clayton clerked for the Honorable Marlene Lynch Ford in the Superior Court of New Jersey. Mr. Clayton is licensed to practice law in all state courts in Florida and New Jersey, as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Prior to his employment with Linkhorst & Hockin, P.A., Mr. Clayton was senior associate at a state-wide insurance defense firm where his practice was focused on representing developers and contractors in construction defect litigation. Mr. Clayton also handled personal injury, premises liability, and subrogation matters. Mr. Clayton has extensive litigation experience and has tried numerous cases to verdict.

Before relocating to Florida, Mr. Clayton practiced law in New Jersey with a focus on civil rights litigation, defending police officers, sheriff’s officers, and other public entities in cases alleging violations of constitutional rights.

Mr. Clayton is a currently a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and is a member of the construction law committee. In addition, Mr. Clayton is an avid surfer and is a member of the Friends of Jupiter Beach.
