About Richard S. Vermut

Mr. Vermut practices exclusively in the area of intellectual property law, including patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and computer law and related unfair competition matters. His practice includes patent and trademark prosecution, litigation and enforcement, licensing software and on-line service agreements and technology transactions.

Mr. Vermut is a Registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law with the Florida Bar. He has been recognized as one of Florida Super Lawyers in the area of Intellectual Property and as Florida Trend Magazine’s “Legal Elite” in the area of Intellectual Property Rights. In 2009, he was selected as a “Rising Star” in Florida Super Lawyers in Intellectual Property. He received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award regarding the Law and Cyberspace Seminar, Georgetown University.

Mr. Vermut served as president of the Jacksonville Bar Association Intellectual Property Section in 2006 and 2007. He is currently a member of the Florida Bar Computer Law Committee, the Section of Science and Technology of the American Bar Association and the Florida Bar Business Law Section. While at Nova Southeastern University, he was the Associate Editor the Nova Law Review. From 2000 to 2003 he presented the lecture “Patents, Product Development and Technology Transfer” to the University of Florida College of Engineering. Mr. Vermut served as an adjunct professor of law teaching Patent Law at the Florida Coastal School of Law from 1998 to 2002. He began as an adjunct professor of Law at the University of Florida College of Law teaching a course in “Patent Law, Advanced Patent Law and Intellectual Property Licensing” in 1999 and continues today.
