Matthew T. Rhodes is an associate in the firm’s Jacksonville office, where he focuses his practice on medical malpractice, general liability, insurance coverage and construction.
Before joining Hall Booth Smith, Matthew handled complex civil litigation and personal injury matters, managing high-volume caseloads and conducting depositions of expert and fact witnesses. He has experience advising clients during negotiations, analyzing contracts and drafting dispositive motions. Formerly a solo practitioner, Matthew returned to a large firm to pursue his passion for high stakes litigation and advocacy in the courtroom. His previous work experience also included exposure to regulatory compliance and local government operations.
Matthew is a Florida attorney with a deep commitment to the communities he serves. Originally from Reno, Nevada, he brings both the perspective of an outsider and the dedication of a local to his legal work in Florida. His approach is shaped by a strong foundation in legal analysis, strategic advocacy, and real-world litigation experience.
Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the law review, won awards in moot court competitions, and honed his advocacy skills through mock trial. These experiences developed his thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to legal writing and courtroom advocacy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Community Health Science from the University of Nevada.
