Laura grew up in Jacksonville and ran cross country at both the Bolles School and Davidson College (B.A., English). She graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1992. Before practicing law in Florida, Laura had the privilege of serving as a public defender in Charleston, South Carolina. Laura joined Fisher, Tousey, Leas & Ball in 2016 and feels especially blessed to be a part of this firm.
Laura is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and a Master in the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court. She also volunteers as an Editor-at-Large for ActionLine, a journal published by the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
In her community, Laura teaches a class for women at the City Rescue Mission, serves on the board of directors of We Care Jacksonville, and is an active member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.
Laura is married to Jeff Jacqmein, a family medicine doctor with UF Health. They have three adult children: Ben, a high school teacher and coach; Olivia, a nurse; and Henry, a history major at the University of Florida.
