When can I start working for my employer?

Answered by attorney Lynne Rogers Feldman
Immigration lawyer at Feldman Feldman Associates, PC
Take a look at the H-1B Approval Notice this will indicate the date when you can begin employment. If the employer applied already you may have a start date earlier than October 1, 2011 as the H's for this year just ran out after the 27th of January, 2011 so cases filed before then made it into this year's quota and may have requested a start date earlier than October 1.

Can an employer sponsor me?

Answered by attorney Kevin L. Dixler
Immigration lawyer at Law Office of Kevin L. Dixler
More information is needed. The challenge is whether you can pay the penalty and get lawful permanent resident status due to a job offer with little experience. This can be a challenge, since you may have to leave the U. S. or wait for years. Many can't. There may be other options, so I strongly recommend an appointment or teleconference with an experienced immigration attorney as soon as possible. Our office can be reached at 312-588-0500. If not, you may create additional problems when you live in the U. S. 'too long after' age 18. You may also complicate your situation by leaving the U. S. or filing. Sincerely, Kevin L. Dixler Attorney at Law The above is general information, not legal advice. This does not create an attorney client relationship.

Can I sponsor my husband if I have a criminal record?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Eric Arden Fisher (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at The Law Office of Eric A. Fisher, LLC
If you are a US citizen or LPR, the fact that you have a criminal record does not prevent you from filing a visa petition for your husband. Whether or not he can apply for an immigrant visa depends upon his immigration history and record.
