I am an American citizen, how long will it take for my spouse to get residence?

Answered by attorney Jennifer Maude Oltarsh
Immigration lawyer at Oltarsh & Associates, P.C.
It depends on where you spouse is and if in the US, how your spouse entered. If you are confused about the process it may be advisable to hire a lawyer to help you through.

What should I do if I am protected by DACA but now married to a U.S. citizen?

Answered by attorney Bruce A. Coane (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Coane & Associates, PLLC
Someone with DACA who is married to a USA citizen, should have that citizen file a visa petition for them, and, if eligible for adjustment of status, I'd do that too.

Will there be a problem if I'm on unemployment benefits and I'm filing for my wife?

I would suggest you invest in a consultation with an experienced Immigration Attorney. While it may be a hardship to pay for it, you may be saving a lot for yourself in both time and money if the problems you face can be addressed now with a plan on how to proceed. Many, including myself, will even do them over the telephone to accommodate clients.
