An individual granted asylum cannot apply for adjustment of status through form I-485 until one year has passed since the asylum was given. There is no deadline for application after that. How long will it take to petition a parent for immigration?

Answered by attorney Ross Elliott Miller (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Miller Conway
Depending on the exact circumstances surrounding your father's removal from the United States, he may be able to re-enter the country after ten (10) years. Assuming you are over the age of twenty-one (21) you, a U.S. citizen child, are eligible to sponsor your father for a green card. That said, additional facts are needed to give an accurate response to your question. Contact an immigration attorney with questions regarding your case.

Yes you can sponsor her for her green card. The processing of her application will take about 12 months before the visa will be issued so I suggest that you start the filing as soon as possible and retain an experienced immigration lawyer here in central Florida. A lot of us give free consultations.
