Has there been any recents changes that will allow me to return to the states? i served an 8 year fed sentence then deported to bolivia...

If your crime was considered an aggravated felony for immigration purposes, you are banned from ever returning to the US (assuming the aggravated felony was the basis of your deportation).  You would have to hire a lawyer skilled at post-conviction relief to see if you could get your conviction removed or the sentence altered after-the-fact and then you would have to see if immigration would re-open your case.  All of that is speculative and expensive, but it is possible.

If someone entered the USA lawfully but remained beyond their time limit, can they fix their papers in the country?

Answered by attorney David H Nachman
Immigration lawyer at NPZ Law Group
The answer to your question depends upon a variety of factors. For example, if the individual entered the United States with inspection and is marrying a US citizen and they can adjust their status in the US. Also, if the entered without inspection they may be able to obtain a waiver. Our immigration and nationality staff would be happy to explain the various methods that this can be done.
