SEVIS status after getting married

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
Since you are already married, I assume that your ceremony is some type of post marriage celebration and that you were married with little or no ceremony. Your parents must show some reason for coming to the U.S., and so they would probably want to show proof of the marriage celebration event and your marriage certificate. They would also want to show that your DS-2019 was extended until November 2012 to prove your legal status. Kindly note that visitors visas are discretionary to an American consulate, but hopefully with proof of the above, the consulate will be convinced that you have not violated status and give your parents the visas.

The I-130 petition should get approved whether you have a job or not. It's irrelevant to the I-130 petition.

How do I file for permanent residency?

Answered by attorney Kenneth G. Wincorn
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Kenneth G. Wincorn & Associates, P.C.
This is a case here there is law to protect you called the Violence Against Women's Act. You can file yourself or hire an immigration attorney to do the filing and help you to present your case. It is best to take action quickly.
