Can my unemployed boyfriend be given a visa?

Answered by attorney Alena Shautsova
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Alena Shautsova
Probably not. First, he needs to apply from the country he is a citizen of, and second he needs to demonstrate that he has sufficient ties with that country so that he won't stay in the US. But if you sponsor him for a K1 visa, than he can come.

You need to answer all questions truthfully. The expunged record can be obtained, but practice varies by state to state.

If my dad has an outstanding balance of student loans, and I want to submit a petition, who is responsible for paying the remaining balance?

Answered by attorney David Troy Cox
Immigration lawyer at CoxEsq, PC
No.  The sponsor is not obligated to pay the personal debts of the sponsored immigrant.  The sponsor agrees to reimburse the government if the sponsored immigrant becomes a public charge (that is, applies for and receives government benefits).
