About Alfred "Martin" Halick

Martin Halick was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He moved to Houston at a very young age. He grew up in Houston, Texas. He went to HISD and transferred to Aldine where he graduated from Aldine High School. After graduation he went to the University of Houston.

Martin Halick’s service to the community began at an early age. While he went to college at the University of Houston he was hired as a Houston Firefighter.

While working as a firefighter, he graduated from the University of Houston (B.S. 1970) with a major in Political Science and a minor in Speech. Upon graduation he applied to law school at South Texas College of Law.

He was admitted to law school, continued his career as a firefighter and was a part time instructor at the Fire Training Academy.

At South Texas College of Law, Martin Halick participated in student government. He was elected Freshman Senator at the law school. He also joined a fraternity, Delta Theta Phi, E.E. Townes Senate at South Texas College of Law. He was elected (Clerk of Exchequer) 1971-1972 in the fraternity.

Martin Halick also earned distinction as a Member of the “Law Review” 1972-1973 at South Texas College of Law. On the Law Review he was appointed to the post of “Book Review Editor”. Membership to the “Law Review”1972-1973 is limited to students with the highest academic achievements. His scholarship achievements also included “American Jurisprudence Award” for scholarship given to the law school student for achieving the highest grade and rank in the class for a particular subject (Personal Property).

Throughout all his studies in law school, Martin Halick continued working as a Houston Firefighter. Martin was a member of the Firefighter’s Union Local 341. He was active with the Houston Firefighters Union. Martin Halick graduated Law School September of 1973, South Texas College of Law (J.D. 1973). He maintained his contact with the Firefighters Union as well as the Houston Black Firefighters Association and the Houston Hispanic Firefighters Organization. His identification with Workers and Union Organizations have been a great influence on his life.

Martin Halick has been active in the Texas Bar Association. He served as a member of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee Houston Subcommittee of the State Bar of Texas for several years. He served as the Subcommittee Vice Chairperson for the years 1986 to 1988. He was duly appointed Chairperson of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee Houston Subcommittee of the State Bar of Texas and served faithfully during the years 1989 to 1991. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association State Bar of Texas. He has been a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Martin Halick has participated in Organizations of Trial Lawyers.

Over many years Martin Halick has maintained his Association with Union and Labor Organizations. He received an Appreciation Award at the Houston Black Firefighters 5th Annual Scholarship Ball in January 1987. Martin Halick had the pleasure to meet with and visit Dexter King, son of the honored Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Halick continued his service and association with the Houston Black Firefighters Association and he was presented an Award of Appreciation for outstanding dedication and commitment to the Houston Black Firefighters Association again in December 2005. He has maintained friendships with Founding Members of the Organization and the first President of the Organization, Herbert Sims. In 2017 he continued with his association and contributions with Community Service Organizers including Freddie Jackson. He has assisted when the need arises in many areas of the City of Houston including Sunnyside, South Park Ministers Coalition and the Mayor of Sunny Side, Sandra Hines. The Hispanic Houston Firefighters Organization has also presented Martin Halick with an Award of Recognition and Service. He continues thru the present in his Association with Rick Gomez, Steve Alvarez, Enrique “Mico” Guerra and other present and past chairman of the Hispanic Houston Firefighters Association and Board Members.

Martin Halick’s participation and assistance in varies communities has not gone without recognition and praise. He received a Super Hero’s Award from the ex-Houston Councilman Feliz Fraga. He received an Appreciation Award from State Senator Rodney Ellis August of 1998.

Martin Halick also received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition and is Recipient of the New Millenium “Super Heroes” Community Service Award from Shelia Jackson Lee, Member of Congress “1999”. He presently continues his association and service thru Community Leaders including Sandra Hines, Honorary Mayor of Sunnyside in Houston, Texas.

Martin Halick has received many Awards for Scholarship, Achievement and Community Service. In 2010, Martin Halick received 20 year Anniversary rated BV Distinguished by Martindale Hubbell, Peer Review Rated as very highly rated. In 2015, Martin Halick received a “Client Distinction Award”. In 2016 Martin Halick received an Award presented to “America’s Most Honored Professionals”. In 2017, Martin Halick received an Award as Distinguished presented by Martindale Hubbell which noted that he has a very high rating in both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards. Martin Halick also has the highest rating given by BBB the Better Business Bureau.

Always giving the run around and lying about the case. Not recommended to anyone. Worthless lawyers. DONT EVER COME HERE FOR ACCIDENT SETTELMENTS. They are complete bs and take a long time and never call you , you have to call them just to hear the same thing. not sure why they are still even open if they seem not to care about their clients.
