Wendell H. Fuji, practices primarily in the area of commercial litigation with an emphasis on matters related to insurance law, torts, and commercial contracts and leases. He represents clients in civil trials in both the State and Federal District Courts in Hawaii, and in arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Fuji advises and represents insurance companies, policyholders and the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Hawaii on special cases and has been retained as special counsel in complex litigation matters related to the insolvency and rehabilitation and liquidation of insurance companies. In his role as co-lead counsel to the Liquidator of these insolvent insurance companies, he has helped recover over $20 million in assets for distribution to creditors.
Education
Mr. Fuji received a bachelor’s degree in United States History and a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Hawaii- at Manoa, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Prior Employment
Prior to attending law school, he was a high school social studies teacher at Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was also the tennis team coach and student counsel advisor.
