Darryl M. Taira

Darryl M. Taira, Esq. is currently in solo practice as of July 2005 and has been practicing law in the State of Hawaii since 1984. Mr. Taira practices in the areas of taxation, business, real estate transactions, and estate planning. Mr. Taira received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Emphasis in Accounting), cum laude, Masters of Business Taxation, and Juris Doctor Degrees, all from the University of Southern California where he attended on scholarship. Mr. Taira was the recipient of the Prentice-Hall Award for attaining the highest grade point average in the School of Accounting. He was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Alpha Delta. Mr. Taira was also an active member of the USC Accounting Circle, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and the Vice President of Alpha Kappa Psi. Mr. Taira has passed the National Uniform Certified Public Accountant's Examination in the State of California and was previously employed in the audit and tax departments with what are now the international accounting firms of Deloitte & Touche and Ernst & Young, respectively. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Sections on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, Business Law, and Health Law) Hawaii State (Sections on Elder Law, Taxation, Probate and Estate Planning) and former member of the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Taira is a frequent lecturer to various professional groups in all aspects of real estate, Section 1031 exchanges, estate planning, taxation, and business formation. Mr. Taira also passed the State of Hawaii real estate salesperson's license test and is recognized in Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in America. He currently serves as a State of Hawaii licensed instructor for real estate continuing education classes required for all real estate licensees. Mr. Taira is a certified Contract Advisor for the National Football League (only one of four currently certified in the State of Hawaii) and Canadian Football League (only one of two currently certified in the State of Hawaii). Only certified contract advisors are authorized to represent players in those respective leagues. Mr. Taira has served in leadership roles and committees with both Holy Nativity Episcopal Church and St. Clement's Parish, as well as with Waialae Country Club. Beta Gamma Sigma; Phi Alpha Delta. Shareholder, Director and on the Executive Committee of Tam, O'Connor, Henderson, Taira & Yamauchi, a medium size firm, where he practiced for thirteen (13) years, 1987-2000. Mr. Taira began his practice at Case, Kay & Lynch, recognized as the oldest and one of the largest law firms in the State of Hawaii, 1984-1987.
