Hired Attorney

My spouse and I recently consulted Adekoya Law Group during which I paid the firm's $250.00 asking price for consultation and, we also gave Adekoya Law Group a deposit to file a petition on our behalf. In less than a week after the consultation, I decided not to file our case so I called and left Adekoya Law Group a message stating my decision not to file at this time. Although my phone records show that I called Adekoya Law firm twice and left messages, a female associate eventually called and denied any indication of my calls to the firm. When I asked about my refund for the deposit, she initially said that I will be refunded however, she eventually sent me a WhatsApp message in which she stated that Adekoya Law Group will retain another $350 from my deposit amount because (according to her), my petition is already being filed! I do not seem to understand how (or why) a petition can/will be filed on a petitioner's behalf without her/his consent, approval or signature.
