Unethical lawyer. My parents don’t speak English well, can’t read English, in their 70s, and live off Social Security. They saw Taylor Simpson’s ads on a Chinese language website (only shows his Chinese name, not his real name). My parents hired him to do estate planning with the impression that Taylor Simpson would communicate with them in Chinese and explain the terms in the legal document in Chinese. After my parents paid in full for the promised service right after the first consultation, my parents only communicated with Taylor Simpson’s wife (non lawyer) through texting until I told them that was not how a good lawyer should communicate. His Taiwanese wife without attorney license shall not provide legal advice. The trust document Taylor Simpson prepared was full of grammatical errors, sloppily written, and the content didn’t reflect my parents’ desires. Not only do we doubt Taylor Simpson’s proficiency with the Chinese language, but also his writing skills in English.
