About Meghan Freed

Meghan Freed is a divorce and family law attorney at Freed Marcroft, specializing in alternative dispute resolution. She has advanced training in collaborative law, mediation, and Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation. Early in her career she was named a Hartford Business Journal 40 Under Forty winner and a Connecticut Law Tribune New Leader of the Law in 2013, appeared on the New England Super Lawyers® Rising Star list from 2013 to 2016, and was honored by CWEALF as one of 40 Women for the Next 40 Years in 2014. A passionate advocate for LGBT equality, Meghan co-authored the amicus brief in Kerrigan v. Commissioner of Public Health, appears regularly on WNPR, speaks to bar and corporate audiences, and chairs the Connecticut Bar Association’s LGBT Section. The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

• Distinguished: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates the attorney is widely respected by their peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards.
