Both myself and the purchaser used this firm for the sale of land. I was selling it. When I met with the lawyer I specifically asked about legal fees. I was told by the lawyer that the 1700 and change would be split between both of us. I would pay 800 and dome and the purchaser would pay the same. When the deal closed. I was charged 1782.50 and the purchaser was charged over 1800.00. When I enquired about it, the lawyer said « I thought I explained the legal fees to you. You would be saving money as you were not using a realtor but you both would have separate legal bills ». That conversation never took place at all and conveniently doesn’t recall the conversation me and my spouse had. On a sale of 10,000 the same lawyer made almost 4000.00 of us. I will never use them again for anything. If I had not specifically been told that I would not have an issue but the fact is I was snd it was not honour
Do not hire Patterson Law. A few years ago, my aunt died. The executor hired Patterson law to handle the legal details. Unfortunately, there was a lot of drama, animosity and distrust amongst our family, including towards the executor. I won't get into the details of that. But, look: I'm sure we're not the first and won't be the last family to have disputes over an estate. Patterson law made several sloppy mistakes in names and dates and, most importantly, insisted that beneficiaries sign a form saying that we received all expected payouts from the estate, before we actually received anything. I wrote to the lawyer. He never responded. His paralegal responded that this is "standard practice". I am sure you can understand that, in a situation where there is already a lot of tension and distrust, this added a lot of fuel to the fire! Note that as executor of an estate, you can hire any lawyers you want. You don't have to stick with the lawyers who helped write the will.
After years, and tens of thousands of dollars, of having Patterson Law represent me I ended up losing thousands more from poor legal advice, which included fraudulent tax advice (which I'm still pursuing). Tim Daley was my first lawyer and then Lloyd Berliner, who just sent me random letters to "check in" and then later would send bills for $5,000...after a couple years of this I finally refused to stop paying and then they tried to take me to court and settle, except I hired another shitty lawyer, Brandon Martin from Bland and Assoc., who didn't bother to inform me of their settlement or court date so I essentially lost again bc of another shitty lawyer. When I tried to appeal through LEINS, I was refused after showing evidence that I was misrepresented! Then covid19 happened and now I have even further lack of recourse! BEWARE OF LAWYERS WHO JUST LOOK FOR SIMPLE WAYS TO BILL CONSTANTLY!!! Don't do what I did and not consistently review/dispute your bills!
