Hired Attorney

Horrible attorney. 8 years later, my children and I are still paying the price due to her and Patti Sheltrowns stupidity. Divorce is hard enough but when you hire an attorney to stand up for you and your children and she doesn’t? That’s despicable. Apparently $65,000 for a divorce isn’t enough for Mary. She passed me off to one of her associates because I “couldn’t afford her”. Yes, she said those words to me. I ended up hiring an attorney from Varnum post divorce to undo the mess that they created. Not to mention the attorney, Mark Haslem that my ex retained - I worked for him and quit because of his dishonesty 30 years ago. There should have been an immediate conflict of interest and I pointed that out. Mary said it was OK. The first thing the Varnum attorney said was Haslem should’ve never been allowed to be on the case. Not only have I had to fight my ex’s lies- I’ve had to fight him his as well. Stay away from Mary. Find someone that knows what they’re doing.

All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

• Distinguished: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates the attorney is widely respected by their peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards.
