My experience with James Sherbin was deeply disappointing for both myself and my son. I hired Neumann Law to help challenge my ex-wife's unilateral decision to put our son on ADHD medication under the assumption she had sole custody. I called Kelly Neumann with whom I attended high school with and she referred me to James Sherbin, who from the outset demonstrated a lack of experience, confidence, and courtroom presence. Communication was poor, not clear and timid throughout. James was disorganized, extremely passive during proceedings, and failed to use critical evidence (including text messages) that could have supported my case. On the day of the cross-examination, he called me just three hours before to ask whether I wanted him to attend in person or via Zoom--knowing full well he wouldn't be able to make it to court on time from traverse city to Kalamazoo. He ended up appearing via Zoom, which was unprofessional and ill-prepared for such a crucial moment. Unacceptable.
1st of September 2025 officially marks 1 year of incarceration for my husband for a crime he did not commit. James Sherbin was unfortunately his hired attorney. He started off strong and confident that my husband would win his case, however that was very short lived after seeing his weak and timid performance in the court room. James was walked all over, voice was soft, was often incorrect with facts and gave my husband incorrect advice more than once. Not only was my husband found guilty but was sentenced to 6 years in prison. James Sherbin's lack of experience was very clearly evident and I wish he was man enough to have admitted it at that time and asked a more experienced lawyer from the firm to assist. He ruined our lives! I strongly suggest you do your homework on him before considering hiring him. We are now going through the appeals process and I pray hat justice will prevail.
Inexperienced Lawyer. James represented my husband on 3 felonies. We chose the law firm based on the excellent reviews and they assigned James to us. From the very first time James appeared in court for my husband I begged him to find a different lawyer. My husband was already in jail and had no means of finding a new lawyer, he was completely stuck with this dud and the matter was out of my hands. James went on to lose absolutely. On the stand at the trial I wasn't asked questions as you'd think a lawyer would ask. I left the stand and cried so much because I knew for a fact James was going to lose the case he originally confidently said he would win. $13 000 wasted, sentencing is in two days time and he wants another $7000. My husband hasn't been able to get a hold of him in a week, he doesn't even have his guidelines yet. My husband hasn't been able to get a hold of him in a week, he doesn't even have his guidelines yet. I have never encountered such a bad lawyer in my life before!
