James Robert Burkett

Highly recommend Mr James Burkett. Excellent lawyer and staff. He has been the lawyer for my brother's estate for the past 3 years, a complicated case involving property, comprehensive accounting and 13 beneficiaries (two of whom were extremely contentious during the process...to the point of posting negative and inaccurate reviews on the internet...signed "anonymous"). However, my experience as Executor of the estate found Mr Burkett and his staff, especially Gemma Hanlon and Caren Drake, to be exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and always available throughout the entire process. Their understanding and knowledge of the various complexities and complications in estate law provided me with excellent advice as to how to proceed through some extremely challenging and stressful situations, especially since all of the beneficiaries were my relatives . I highly recommend and give Mr Burkett and the wonderful staff of Bartlett, Pontiff, Stewart & Rhodes an "A" rating.

I hired Mr James Burkett to help with my fathers estate. WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS. He refused to return phone calls, refused to submit necessary paperwork to the probate court on time, charged us hundreds in fees for work he never did. Went into rages when questioned. Truly the most unprofessionl attorney that I have ever encountered.

I am the daughter of a beneficiary of the estate mentioned in previous negative reviews left for Mr. Burkett. Mr. Burkett is attempting to charge the estate over $1000 for time he spent READING THE REVIEWS ONLINE. This is a clear attempt at extorting the estate to remove the 100% truthful reviews and as a result, I have filed a formal complaint with the bar association regarding this latest unethical practice performed by Mr. James Burkett. He has further charged over $2000 for reading requests for an accounting of the estate which he must legally provide, yet to date 19 months after the death of the writer of the will, Mr. Burkett has REFUSED to provide any accounting of any kind to any beneficiery

Mr James R Burkett was hired by the executer of a will in which my mother is listed as a beneficiery. When my mother requested an accounting of the estate finances from Mr. Burkett, which he must provide upon request as per NYS Law, he ignored her repeated requests for 3 months..she then notified him that she had no choice but to report him to the Bar Association, his response was as follows: "we have determined that an accounting is not necessary ...and any attempt to intimidate, threaten ,or bully me will be considered harassment..your communication with me will no longer be answered..signed James R. Burkett of BARTLET, PIONTIFF, STEWART and RHODES Glens Falls, NY Mr. Burkett is currently under investigation by the Bar Association for unethical behavior towards my mother
