My mother was married for 22 years and sought to get a divorce after her husband physically abused her due to his dementia. Just before the divorce was final, her husband passed away. After very poor and completely non aggressive legal representation, my mother didn’t get a single cent after being married for 22 years. She didn’t even have any rights to the house she lived in and paid bills for. My mother paid $7,500 and if she would have paid nothing and not have had a lawyer she would at least be $7,500 ahead. This lawyer only agreed to everything the other side proposed and never once took positive action on my mother’s behalf. When I contacted senior leadership in the law firm they told me it was a “series of unfortunate events” that caused my mother to be homeless and not receive anything. It sounded like the law firm was going to step up refund money, but quit returning phone calls. All facts.
Once we fired Dean and hired our new lawyer, we were given legal advice from day one that had we known while working with Dean, we strongly believe it would have changed the course of our case in our favor. In our opinion, he is not assertive and we did not feel confident with him as our attorney.
