Mr. DeMaria is the managing partner, founder and trial attorney at the DeMaria Law Firm. Mr. DeMaria is a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA), which is limited to attorneys with the required jury trial success to qualify for admission upon a vote of the ABOTA members. Mr. DeMaria has been awarded the highest rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the AV rating for preeminent lawyers. Mr. DeMaria has also been voted a Northern California Super Lawyer. His practice is focused on the defense and representation of insurance companies and their insureds, as well as schools and their employees. As an insurance and school defense attorney, Mr. DeMaria has defended cases all throughout California and Colorado, in state and federal court, in jury trials and court judge trials.

Mr. DeMaria has won jury verdicts in California and Colorado. Mr. DeMaria has taken and defended every type of deposition, including complex expert witnesses, medical doctors and experts and lay witnesses, thoughout his entire career. Mr. DeMaria has mediated and arbitrated cases, in addition to his court trials, regularly since 1995.
Mr. DeMaria is well published in education and school defense, insurance defense, public entity and civil litigation defense matters. Mr. DeMaria is a frequent speaker at insurance defense and school defense/public entity defense seminars, including at the Public Agency Risk Manager Association annual conference (PARMA). Mr. DeMaria also gives lectures and seminars to individual school districts, insurance companies and clients.
After 24 years at the large Fresno firm of McCormick Barstow, where Mr. DeMaria was the highest level of most senior partner and the chair of the Specialty Litigation (insurance and school defense) Department, Mr. DeMaria decided to leave McCormick Barstow and open his own firm dedicated solely to insurance defense, school defense and public entity defense. Mr. DeMaria moved his entire practice right down the road to form the DeMaria Law Firm with his long time trusted team from his old firm. DeMaria Law Firm specializes and focuses on the defense and representation of its insurance defense and school/public entity clients.
Mr. DeMaria is a member of the California and Colorado state bars. Mr. DeMaria served a full term on the Judicial Nominee Evaluation Committee of the California State Bar (JNE Commission). Mr. DeMaria is a member of the American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA) and the Fresno County Bar Association. Mr. DeMaria is also a member of the Fresno Grizzlies Advisory Board (Fresno’s AAA Baseball Team) and the President of the Fresno Athletics baseball organization for youth and summer college baseball players. Mr. DeMaria is a past President of the Bullard Cal Ripken youth baseball league.
Mr. DeMaria received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, with a minor in History, from the University of California Davis, in 1991, where he was a four year varsity letterman in swimming (1987-1991). Mr. DeMaria received his law degree from the University of San Diego in 1995, where he graduated with the high distinction of Cum Laude and Order of the Coif. Mr. DeMaria was elected the Honor Court Counsel at the University of San Diego for 1994-1995.
