About Gina-Marie Izzo

Gina-Marie Izzo is an attorney with Weinberger Divorce and Family Law Group, LLC. Gina-Marie is an accomplished family lawyer, court approved mediator, and former Assistant District Attorney for the State of New York. She exclusively dedicates her practice to family and matrimonial matters, including divorce, custody and parenting time, alimony, child support, division of assets, domestic violence, DCP&P child welfare matters, modification and enforcement of family court orders, child removal matters, post-divorce issues and all other related family matters.

Drawing on her extensive background, Gina-Marie offers compassion and empathy for her clients undergoing the life altering experience of a divorce or family matter. She prioritizes excellent communication and education as a way to relieve common fears and anxieties for her clients and to ensure that they are always ready and able to make the best decisions possible. Gina-Marie’s personal experience with the divorce process, especially divorcing when children are involved, allows her to deeply understand her clients needs. It is also a key driving force behind her zealous advocacy and passion for helping her clients reach their goals.

Gina-Marie is a highly skilled family court litigator and has successfully advocated for countless divorce and family law clients. Having served as an Assistant District Attorney, she also possesses a unique and extensive criminal litigation background that has provided her with advanced investigative, logical and rational “on her feet” thinking skills which are all necessary to advocate aggressively on behalf of her clients.

Gina-Marie is also careful to only use litigation when absolutely necessary and to explore low conflict resolution methods whenever they are in her client’s best interests. In fact, Gina-Marie is a court approved and qualified family law mediator. Her training and experience in mediation have honed her negotiation skills, enabling her to resolve, when possible, non-mediated cases without court intervention.

Over the course of her esteemed career, Gina-Marie has gained vast experience in additional practices of law, including defending individuals in Municipal Court matters as well as Estate Planning. Her background in these areas of law provides her clients with an advantage that others do not have. The reality is, there are times when Municipal Court matters such as Simple Assault, Criminal Mischief, Harassment, and even Driving While Intoxicated, can get intertwined into family related matters. Gina-Marie knows how to address these matters regardless of whether or not her client is the victim or if they are facing these charges. Having been a prosecutor and a municipal defense attorney, Gina-Marie can see both sides of the coin, adapt to it, and properly advocate for her clients in either situation.

With her extensive experience in estate planning, Gina-Marie is adept at counseling her clients on the steps necessary to prepare and situate themselves after the completion of their divorce. Estate planning plays an integral part in post-divorce preparation, especially when children are involved. Whether the situation involves updating an existing Last Will and Testament after the divorce, a children’s trust, or guardian appointment, Gina-Marie guides her clients through the steps necessary to accomplish their needs and goals.

Gina-Marie received her Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. While attending law school, she was first introduced to domestic violence matters during her participation in the Volunteer Lawyer’s Battered Women’s Project. During her time with the project, Gina-Marie learned how patience, compassion and sensitivity are vital in this area of the law and how important it is to provide quality representation especially in these difficult situations.

Upon graduating from law school, she was certified by the Family Division of Monmouth County Court as a volunteer in their Supervised Visitation Program. During her time with the program, Gina-Marie supervised visits between children and their non-custodial parents who were prohibited from contacting their children outside of a neutral setting. During this time, Gina-Marie got hands on experience in dealing with families and children in conflict plus learning how to defuse this conflict.

The gratification Gina-Marie experienced by assisting these families in their time of need further fueled her desire to delve deeper into the field of family law. Thereafter, Gina-Marie served as an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, in Brooklyn, New York, representing the People of the State of New York, and completing her career as a First Deputy Bureau Chief.

Gina-Marie is admitted to practice before the courts of New York and New Jersey. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Family Law Section, and the Monmouth County Bar Association. She volunteers as a panelist with the Early Settlement Panel program in the Monmouth County Family Court where she assists other attorneys and litigants in reaching an amicable resolution of their matters. She also volunteered and was certified by the Supervised Visitation Program in Monmouth County.

Gina-Marie resides in Central Jersey where she is an active member of her community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son and her dog, Shitake.

Hired Attorney Gina-Marie Izzo

I cannot say enough about the incredible work Gina Izzo did on my case. From the very beginning, Gina approached everything with strength, strategy, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right—not just for me, but for my three daughters. Her ability to put their well-being at the forefront of every decision made all the difference during an extremely challenging legal battle involving my ex-wife's cohabitation. Thanks to Gina’s tenacity and expertise, I am no longer burdened with paying alimony—something that should have ended long ago, but which required a strong and steady advocate to resolve. Gina never backed down, even when faced with my ex-wife’s notoriously difficult behavior. She remained professional, focused, and firm throughout, always ensuring the truth came forward. She is more than just a great attorney—she’s a fighter, a protector, and someone who truly cares about her clients and their families. I am beyond grateful for what she has done for me and my daughters

Hired Attorney Gina-Marie Izzo

I'm very appreciative of the way Gina handled my divorce. She is very knowledgeable and did a terrific job explaining things, answering my questions, and providing sound guidance. It was easy to contact her and get a quick response. She stays on top of things and was always ready to make a sensible proposal during negotiations with my ex-husband and his lawyer. She is a highly capable and compassionate professional and I was pleased with the end result.
