Almost let my filing lapse. I happen to catch it online. Did not provide a copy of final divorce decree. I had to drive 70 miles to pick up a copy.
I paid over $1000, a could not even get them to return my phone calls. I ended up having to hire another attorney so that I could get my divorce finalized!
Difficult to get a hold of, non-responsive, but seems to be true of lawyers in general based on other experiences. I found out through my ex that the she went to court to sign the papers, I never was told of a court date. I found out through my ex that the divorce was final but never heard from my firm. Called to verify, no return call. Okay, they are an inexpensive firm, but your own lawyer should at least call you when the divorce is final.
