Throughout his life, John Shipley has exemplified a deep commitment to serving others. His journey has led him through various roles, including emergency medical technician (EMT), volunteer firefighter, US Army soldier, FBI agent, and now, an esteemed attorney.
During his impressive 14-year tenure as an FBI agent, Mr. Shipley tackled complex investigations involving both state and federal crimes. His experiences led him to testify in both state and federal courts, providing him with an intimate understanding of the judicial process. With formidable investigative and negotiation skills honed during his FBI service, Mr. Shipley possesses a distinct advantage in resolving legal issues both in and out of the courtroom. He has worked extensively with judges, prosecuting attorneys, Assistant United States Attorneys, defense attorneys, and law enforcement at the local, state, and federal levels.
While pursuing his legal education, Mr. Shipley served as a law clerk for a reputable law firm in Knoxville, Tennessee. During this time, he gained invaluable experience in various legal areas, including personal injury, criminal defense, and DUI defense. Notably, he played a crucial role in a complex federal case involving the defense of a person accused of trafficking cocaine. His keen eye for detail and dedication to his clients led him to review numerous police DUI video recordings, uncovering inaccuracies that resulted in favorable outcomes for his clients.
Having graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, Duncan School of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee, Mr. Shipley's academic achievements were exemplary. As the vice-president of the Veteran's Law Society and the Amicus Group, he demonstrated leadership and commitment to his peers. Notably, he received multiple academic awards, including the prestigious CALI Awards for being the top student of his class. His active participation in the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity further showcased his dedication to the legal profession. In recognition of his exceptional character and accomplishments, Mr. Shipley was honored with the Law Student of Justice award from the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Following his graduation, Mr. Shipley remained dedicated to enhancing his skills to better serve his clients. He completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's DUI Detection & Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course, which equips him to analyze and evaluate DUI evidence, ensuring proper police conduct during investigations and exposing arrests made without probable cause. Moreover, Mr. Shipley consistently attends continuing legal education (CLE) courses to stay updated on new case law relevant to his clients' cases.
