Bergermann Law Firm was founded in 1996 by Vera Bergermann. Ms. Bergermann has been practicing law since 1979 and has over 40 years of legal experience.
Ms. Bergermann's first law job was as the 1979 summer intern for the State's Attorney's Office, Juvenile Division, Homicide Unit, on the South Side of Chicago. This eye-opening experience led her to the corporate world later that summer when she joined the legal department at ITT and became a staff attorney negotiating and drafting contracts for telecommunication systems.
Vera continued her work as a staff attorney in the New York City area for Northern Telecom and, later, UNISYS in Philadelphia. After earning her master's degree in taxation, she moved to Pittsburgh and opened up her tax practice.
Moving to Fort Myers in 1992, Vera worked for General Electric, where she earned a customs broker license and handled disputes involving GE imports.
She currently provides expert legal guidance to clients throughout Florida, but primarily in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Sarasota Counties.
She passed the challenge of the Florida Bar on her first attempt in 1994 and opened her practice downtown after becoming a certified family law mediator in 1996.
Ms. Bergermann earned her B.A. in Psychology with high honors and distinction from the University of Michigan in 1976 in the month she turned 19 years old. She then attended law school at Loyola University and earned her J.D. in 1980. She attended graduate school at Widener University, earning a master's degree in taxation in 1988.
Ms. Bergermann was admitted to the State of Illinois Bar in 1980, and she was admitted to the State of Florida Bar in 1994.
