In 1979, Attorney Robert David Malove graduated from the American University School of Justice in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Science degree in the Administration of Justice. Consistent with staying on the cutting edge of developments in criminal defense - one of Robert’s signature trademarks—he earned a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from The George Washington University in 1981, where a number of courses were instructed at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Institute of Forensic Pathology. He then graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1983. Robert Malove is board certified as an expert in criminal law by The Florida Bar.

Over the years, Attorney Malove earned a reputation as a fierce litigator. In 1984, he became an Assistant Public Defender in Broward County, Florida. Over the next 12 years, he appeared in court regularly and handled all types of cases ranging from petty offenses to capital crimes before opening his own law firm.
Highly Qualified in DUI Defense
In 1995, Attorney Malove was selected to serve as the DUI training attorney at the Public Defender’s Office in Miami. He's attended and successfully completed the Metro-Dade Police Academy’s field sobriety testing course, and was issued a permit to conduct breath alcohol testing on Intoxilyzer breath testing instruments by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
In 1995, he became a founding member of the National College for DUI Defense, a professional, non-profit corporation dedicated to the improvement of the criminal defense bar, and the dissemination of information to the public about DUI defense law as a specialized area of criminal defense. The original founding members funded the establishment of the NCDD, and are among the top DUI practitioners in the United States.
Awards and Recognition
Robert Malove has been in private practice since 1996. In 1999, he was awarded the coveted “AV” rating (“very high to preeminent”) by the International Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory—the highest rating awarded to attorneys—and one shared by fewer than 7 percent of all lawyers in the United States.

Among his many accomplishments, he defeated the State of Florida’s attempt to limit defense attorneys from cross-examining breath test technicians regarding the operation of the Intoxilyzer and obtained an often cited published opinion allowing defense attorneys to expose the “voodoo science” the Intoxilyzer is based upon.
Training in Health Care Fraud Defense
In 2007, Attorney Malove completed postgraduate studies in Healthcare Corporate Compliance at The George Washington University, and furthered his comprehensive knowledge of the various state and federal laws regarding healthcare fraud and corporate compliance. In 2007, Robert attended the Health Care Compliance Association’s Compliance Academy and became Certified in Healthcare Compliance, earning the CHC designation. Malove has extensive experience in all aspects of Medicare and healthcare fraud defense. Malove is also the author and publisher of the widely acclaimed Health Care Fraud Blog.
Appeals and Post Conviction Representation
Mr. Malove maintains a very robust appellate and post conviction practice. Mr. Malove's pleadings adhere to the highest standard of academic excellence and scholarship. Mr. Malove has won appellate victories in each of Florida's First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth District Courts of Appeal, a claim not many appellate lawyers can make.
