Nicholas “Nico” Riger is a member of the Professional Liability Department and focuses his practice on the defense of professionals, businesses, and organizations in complex civil litigation matters throughout Florida. Nico represents a wide range of clients, including real estate professionals, insurance agents and brokers, design professionals, and other licensed professionals facing claims arising from their professional services. He works closely with clients from inception of litigation through resolution, providing strategic counsel and advocacy in all phases of the litigation process.
Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey, Nico practiced insurance defense litigation representing insurers and insureds in a variety of first-party and third-party claims. His experience includes handling matters involving professional liability, premises liability, automobile negligence, coverage disputes, and other complex civil litigation issues. He has experience managing cases through discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial preparation.
Before entering private practice, Nico served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted felony offenses and tried multiple jury trials to verdict. His experience as a prosecutor provided him with extensive courtroom experience and strengthened his skills in trial advocacy, witness examination, evidentiary analysis, and case strategy.
Nico earned his juris doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. During law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Stay M. Ross of Florida’s Seventeenth Judicial Circuit.
Outside of his legal practice, Nico is an avid Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and enjoys training several times a week with friends.
