About Jack Kallus

Jack S. Kallus is a partner in our Ft. Lauderdale and New York offices and focuses on commercial litigation. He represents companies, investors, and sovereign states in proceedings throughout the country. He represents clients in a range of litigations including data security and privacy, breach of contract, business torts, fraud, deceptive trade practices, unfair competition, civil theft and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), consumer protection and bankruptcy, trust and probate litigation, as well as various maritime matters.

Mr. Kallus has a broad background in e-discovery and consults with clients on preservation, collection, and production issues in large litigation matters. He has extensive knowledge of various electronic review platforms and tools; defensible and efficient procedures to preserve, identify and collect electronic and hard copy information; best practices in handling e-discovery and the design of electronic filters and searches manages personnel and business resources to ensure cost-effectiveness. Mr. Kallus has experience identifying the best process for preservation, collection and document review; negotiating e-discovery issues with the opposing party; establishing review protocols and quality control processes for the document review; creating a robust and defensible privilege log; and handling all other aspects of the discovery process.

He also has experience in the complex areas of data privacy and cybersecurity, to help clients navigate complex privacy laws. This includes compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, and counseling clients during initial data breaches. Mr. Kallus has worked with multinational companies on global privacy data security policy development and has assisted in ensuring data collection and processing practices, data transfer procedures, privacy policies, and marketing activities, are all compliant with relevant domestic, international, privacy, and data security regulations.

Mr. Kallus has also represented Fortune 100 financial institutions and lenders in many financial litigation matters in both federal and state court, including disputes under TILA, RESPA, TCPA, KYC, BSA/AML, FCRA, ECOA, FDCPA, and in a variety of common law claims.

Prior to joining KDV, Mr. Kallus was a shareholder at a boutique law practice serving clients in New York, Colorado, Georgia and Florida. He honed his litigation skills during his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office.
