Brendan Sweeney serves as Counsel in the firm's Financial Services Litigation Group with a focus on representing financial institutions in all matters dealing with real property and consumer financial litigation.
His experience consists of prosecuting and defending quiet title claims, title insurance claims, eminent domain matters, wrongful foreclosure claims and complex mortgage disputes.
He has served as the lead attorney on a variety of cases on the federal and state level dealing with alleged violations of TCPA, FDCPA, TILA, and RESPA. Brendan's services include taking and defending depositions, mediating cases, conducting motion practice and drafting appellate briefs.
Brendan's legal background consists of practicing in construction, real estate and business law. He is a LEED-AP Building Design and Construction (LEED BD+C) accredited attorney and has represented a number of companies within the construction industry in a variety of matters including: negotiation of construction liens, construction defect claims, payment and performance bond claims and bid disputes. Brendan has advised public and private entities dealing with various procurement requirements for construction projects pursuant to local, state and federal law.
Brendan is a former Assistant State Attorney with the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida where he represented the state of Florida by handling jury trials, bench trials, motion hearings and depositions. He received his B.A., with distinction from the University of Wisconsin and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2005. Following law school, Brendan received his LL.M. in Real Property Development in 2007.
He is a member of the Florida and Maryland Bar Associations as well as involved in a number of other environmental professional associations including the Florida Green Building Coalition and the United States Green Building Coalition. Brendan is also involved in the community where he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Synapse House.
