Contracts and filings were sent only to the other parties in the case. I never received copies of petitions or correspondence unless I demanded it. I received more information about my case from the other lawyer before I retained Ms. Newman, (which stopped after I retained Ms. Newman). Therefore, I couldn't alert her to any arguments that I had concerning my case.
Court appointed as children’s counsel for 11-14 year olds. First she told my children that because of their ages, their requests and what they had to say would be what determine her recommendations. Despite being told by the children that their biological father that they had no relationship with and hadn’t seen for several years, is extremely abusive. The 14 year old expressed serious concerns about alcoholism and that he personally believed he does drugs & that he was concerned for his 13 year old sister’s safety, because he witnessed bio-dad physical abuse myself and his two older sisters….After speaking with bio-dad she decided everything the children had to say wasn’t true and chose to only believe bio-dad…as the children’s attorney. She then scheduled massive amounts of unsupervised visitations with bio-dad(despite the children’s plea to her not to) which included a trial over night visitation that was required in town for him to have over a month long visitation 2,000 miles away
This minors counsel effectively destroyed the relationship between my husband and his teenage kids. She was ignorant, apathetic, and gender bias regarding the abusive actions of their mother and due to her extreme negligence there’s NO contact between my husband and his kids. In fact, each false claim made by their mother (court documented) was proven false (also court documented) and she was admonished by the criminal court judge for her lies-however Ms Newman chose to ignore these facts and also ignored when mother engaged in these same contemptuous actions and encouraged kids to break contact with father. There’s been ZERO follow up from her or attempt to give same efforts towards the relationship between the kids with their dad as she did to ignore the kids and what they said about their mother and the abuse-and now the other young teen kids (kids of moms husband) in the home have run away! Ms Newman should be removed as a minors counsel in El Dorado County as she is unethical.
