The firm was established in 1982 and offers clients in the Cumberland County and surrounding areas legal services within the parameter of a general practice with an emphasis on civil litigation and real estate. Since its opening, the firm has expanded those areas of practice with the addition of members, each of whom bring a unique set of skills and experience to the team. Members of the firm are active members of the community continuing in the tradition of the firm's founding members, Mr. Thorp and Mr. Clarke. Mr. Thorp served as the president of the Cumberland County Bar Association as well as the 12th Judicial District Bar. Mr. Clarke served as a US Magistrate Judge for the US District Court, Eastern District, North Carolina from 1973-1983 and he and his family are respected members of the Fayetteville community today. Whatever type of legal matter you face, the firm's members are willing to assist you.

By far the best law firm around! From handling my fathers estate and then my mothers was so overwhelming but they were very patient, helpful and kind in all aspects. I recently bought a new house and made it my upmost priority to use them for my closing. Quick responses and great communication put this first time home buyer at ease. They have been there for me thru the good and the bad. I’m so impressed with their service and professionalism I wouldn’t go any where else!

Almost a month later I still have no deed to my home. Not only did they file it wrong, several weeks later and they have not bothered to fix it or get me a copy of the corrected deed. I don't even know if I really own my home or not and yet these guys have already spent the money I paid them for a fee. I never even met the actual lawyer handling my case. That has not been my experience with other closings. I would never use this firm again for a closing.

If you want communication about your case, this is NOT the firm to hire. They lost our case because they failed to communicate the exhibits from the other side. They came to our case extremely unprepared as well. They just absolutely do not communicate, had they even conveyed the exhibits from the other side and discussed them with us, we would have won our case. Then we found out the other side 100% committed perjury about these exhibits and when we tried to tell our lawyer this and to please go back to the judge, they simply refused, closed the case and were done with us. I got nothing for the 5 grand we paid them.

Closed with Thorpe and Clarke in 2014 and was had to go through a fiasco with simple clerical errors such as misspelled names on the deed. They also tried to charge me for fixing it. March 2024 Tried them out again, and once again disappointed at the lack of urgency, clerical mistakes, filing mistakes and the lack of communication. It’s also very interesting that no one identifies themselves on the phone when you call (very rude practice). Quite honestly I will never do business with them again.

Had a bad experience on 2 cases. Probate settlement took more than 2 years and some documents were filed with errors. An eviction appeal that stemmed from the probate action was unsuccessful. In my opinion, very little effort was put into this matter.

We were totally disappointed of what they did to us. Very unprofessional people. They didn't do anything on our paperwork in order to move forward for almost a year after paying them up front for legal fees. Be careful.

I used this law firm 18 years ago to close on our property. We decided to sell our home a few months ago and discovered that the firm did not submit the correct deed docu to the deeds office for our property. The Law firm was very lax and slow in helping to correct their mistake. I was very disappointed with the firm. The firm’s respond to us concerning the matter is that they want to make sure their insurance will cover them and correcting the problem will not cause a problem for them.
