Sam Sutter is an accomplished attorney and public servant with a rich background in law, athletics, and community leadership. A Brown University graduate and former varsity tennis player, Sutter practiced criminal defense on Cape Cod before joining the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office in 1991, where he prosecuted hundreds of cases and earned recognition as Prosecutor of the Year by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Sutter later served as Bristol County District Attorney, spearheading initiatives that reduced gun violence, solved cold cases, and improved victim advocacy. He was twice named Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Lawyer of the Year and oversaw high-profile cases, including the Aaron Hernandez conviction. After serving as mayor of Fall River, where he drove economic growth and balanced budgets, Sutter returned to private practice. His career reflects a passionate commitment to justice, public safety, and community betterment.
