After reading some of the previous reviews it makes sense to how I was treated at the wexel Milman firm. They ate through my retainer fee and asked for a supplemental bolus of money to finish my cases. When I looked at the itemized bill I saw they charged me time from one of the entry lawyers to walk my family over to the court house and sit with them while we talked about my case and to wait for the hearing. On another unrelated case they provided me a cost to cover a hearing but that hearing was rescheduled and they tried to charge me for the two hearings. Luckily I had that in email and sent it back to them. Once they saw the email they kept to their pervious cost. I ultimately won my cases but only because the other party did not show up. Lastly I asked to have them transfer the case to where I lived so I wouldn’t have to travel so far. Milman advised against because in his words he would lose me as a client. I never used them again and did the transfer myself.
Dishonest. He told me on the phone that his initial consultation fee was $100.00 and that was precisely why I chose to give him a chance. I did not mishear him. After the consultation, he told me it would be $300.00. I told him that he said $100.00 while on the phone, but he discounted what I said as if it were not even possible that he could have said $100.00. Anyone else would've easily been capable of reading the frustration on my face, but it was obvious he couldn't. I actually pity this man. It was more important to squeeze an extra $200 out of me then to retain me as a client. It's not like I went in expecting sympathy, but Mr. Milman seems to seriously be lacking in the areas of compassion and ethics. I would highly encourage avoiding him. There are so many other attorneys in this area, so theres really no point in taking a risk with an attorney who will almost certainly eat rapidly through your retainer. Look elsewhere if you care about getting any value for your money.
Although he was allegedly my attorney, I think my ex and her lawyer crushed him. Did he care???He never clearly explained the implications of the legalese. It’s been years and my ex still doesn’t have a job ( not addressed in the agreement). I will have to appear before a judge if I ever hope to retire. That judge will decide if I can retire and, if so, how I will continue to support my jobless ex. The open, never ending nature of the agreement was certainly never made clear to me. It’s all my responsibility - pay the lawyers, pay the ex and pay until death breaks this legal travesty. Finally, he never shook my hand. I find that very unprofessional. He’s Detached and lacks empathy. Superiority complex. I never felt like he was my advocate. In the end, he cost a fortune for a cut and dry case. Women might find him more helpful. Men, do not divorce in Virginia. It does not matter what kind of problems your ex had. In VA, she will always be your problem. Accept it or file elsewhere.
