I interviewed four lawyers before going with Mr. Hicks. A young connected lawyer, a formed DA, and a high profile lawyer. I went with Mr Hicks for his empathetic nature, clear communication, and effective skill set. He is a former police officer and knows the system very well. Mr. Hicks is the go-to specialist when it comes to reckless driving violations. Fairfax County seems intent to make up any funding deficits resulting from the recession with trumped up traffic violations, the most egregious being reckless driving -- a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia. I was fortunate enough to be represented by Mr. Hicks, who was able to reduce the charge to a minor traffic violation. Most of the time, Mr. Hicks wasn't available and I spoke to his wife. He was more worried about being paid. Once paid, nothing seemed to progress. I even appeared in court on my own behalf. What the final verdict was, I could have done on my own. This was a waste of $5k
