If you signed as a responsible person on her accounts then you could be. If you received assets from her you could be responsible up to the value of the assets that you recently received. If the answer to both of those questions is "no," the you cannot be held responsible. If you answered "yes" to either or both, you should seek legal counsel.

Yes, but there would not be any real advantage to doing this. It would also complicate your estate planning and could frustrate your objectives. One trust should satisfy all your planning objectives.

The short answer is no, but you may be able to demand that the trustee provide an accounting if you feel there has been mismanagement or self-dealing. That demand would probably be made in a probate court, not a family court.
