Do I have any recourse if I was duped out of money that should be mine?

This is your story. Your brother's story is that she put the money in a joint account as his share of her estate, which is a fairly common practice, not normally with that amount of money. You can try and fight it, but I think it will be very difficult.

If my mother and I are co-owners of a condo, when she dies is it automatically mine?

Answered by attorney James Bloomfield Oberholtzer
Estate Planning lawyer at James Oberholtzer, Chartered
It depends on which type of co-ownership you have. If you are tenants in common, then the answer is "no". If you are joint tenants with the right of survivorship, then the answer is 'yes".

Any person can sue anyone for any reason at any time. The question is whether they have a case and if they can prove it in court. It is not uncommon for siblings to sue the sibling who receives 100% of an estate from a parent. Good luck!
