What can we do if my aunt died and the funeral policy must be signed by her sister who is in a coma?

Answered by attorney James P Frederick (Unclaimed Profile)
Estate Planning lawyer at Frederick & Frederick Attorneys at Law
Tough situation. Is there a contingent or "secondary" beneficiary named? I wonder if the insurance company would give you a way out. Does the sister have a power of attorney form that would allow her husband to sign documents for her? More information is needed.

How do we obtain deceased mother's bank funds?

Answered by attorney David Goldman
Estate Planning lawyer at Law Office of David M. Goldman PLLC
It sounds like the will is not valid and you will need to open a probate unless there is a co-owner on the account or a payable on death beneficiary.

Is my step-mom entitled to my father's life insurance if the beneficiaries are his children?

Answered by attorney Sabina Tomshinsky
Estate Planning lawyer at Home Town Law, P.A.
Life insurance proceeds are typically disbursed directly to the listed beneficiaries. Perhaps the beneficiary designation was changed by your father. It would be worthwhile to call the life insurance company directly on this.
