Throughout his 25–year legal career, Nathan has dedicated his practice exclusively to family law, working small and mid–sized firms throughout the Denver metro area, and now in the Inverness area. During this time, Nathan has represented clients in a wide variety of family law matters both at the trial court level and in the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court.
Nathan’s experience includes highly conflicted parenting disputes involving drugs, alcohol, domestic violence, and child abuse, as well as highly complex financial estates that include businesses, minerals, trusts, and high income. Nathan also takes great satisfaction in guiding those whose circumstances are less conflicted and whose estates are less complex as the family law process is difficult, financially and emotionally, the wants and needs of all individuals matter, and we all deserve the best representation possible as we go through this process.
Over his decades of practice, Nathan has come to understand that those who enter this process are deeply and permanently shaped by the experience. Just as each of us is unique, so too are the families and relationships we are involved in. Within these unique relationships we find the very personal emotions that are experienced when confronted with families and relationships breaking apart. Marriages break down. Parents struggle to agree. All that has been built and accumulated is now threatened, whether that is the wealth of our family or the emotional wellbeing of our children. It is all at risk.
Nathan’s ability to guide and advise clients is rooted in both the depth and breadth of his experience, as well as his comprehensive knowledge of Colorado family law. The uniquely complex issues that are presented when families break apart demand the involvement of an attorney with wisdom, experience, an acute knowledge of the law, and the ability to critically think and problem–solve. This complexity also requires an attorney to have the ability to connect with you and your needs, advise you on how to achieve your goals with those needs in mind, and guide you through the challenging family law process in a way that allows you to transition to the next stage ofyour life knowing that you are emotionally and financially prepared to succeed.
Clients hire Nathan not only for his knowledge and experience, but also for his remarkable ability to connect with them and provide a sense of calm during difficult times. This genuine connection, along with the positive outcomes he achieves—often with the support of his outstanding paralegal, Karen—keeps clients in contact long after their cases are resolved and brings them back when new needs arise.
Nathan graduated from the University of Washington in 1992 and from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 1999. He is a member of the Colorado, Douglas–Elbert, and Arapahoe Bar Associations. Nathan has authored, co–authored, and edited publications on various family law topics; and has chaired/lectured at various CLE seminars throughout his legal career, including a recent CLE lunch and learn on the intersection between Family Law and Immigration Law.
