Hon. Gail Prudenti joined Burner Prudenti Law as a partner in August 2023, concentrating her practice on estate administration and guardianship. A distinguished jurist and administrator, she served as New York State’s Chief Administrative Judge from December 1, 2011, overseeing a statewide court system with a budget exceeding $2.7 billion, some 3,600 judges and 15,000 staff across more than 350 facilities. Earlier she was Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department (appointed February 2002), the first woman to hold that post, and the first woman from Suffolk County to serve as an Associate Justice in that court. From May 2017 to June 2023 she was dean of Hofstra Law, where she led the 50th anniversary and a Vision 2020 campaign that raised $22 million, strengthened finances, advanced legal‑tech and interdisciplinary programs, and founded a DEI Council. She helped lead the NY COVID‑19 Recovery Task Force, is a founding member of Mediation Solutions of NY, and in January 2025 became Chair of the Suffolk County Bar Association Judicial Screening Committee. A 2025 Long Island Business News Icon Honors recipient, she holds a law degree from the University of Aberdeen and an undergraduate degree from Marymount College of Fordham University. She lives in Great River with her husband, Robert J. Cimino.
