The degree to which any attorney can help you depends on several factors. As an initial matter, the prosecutors first have to be able to prove you were guilty of the offenses. If not, a good lawyer might be able to get one or more of the charges dismissed. If they can prove all three, then it becomes a matter of negotating with the State, and discussing the risks associated with any potential proposed resolution, with you. Those are both misdemeanors. The DWI carries up to 6 months in jail and a $2,000 fine, unless the person blew .15 or higher.

California has a very limited time in which to pick him up IF he has waived extradition. If he is fighting extradition, then then California will have to jump through hoops to prove they have the right to come get him. He will remain in custody until the process is completed.
