Am I liable if my boyfriend got a DWI in my car?

Answered by attorney Andrea Rogers (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at The Rogers Law Firm
No. You are not liable for anything your boyfriend did. The other driver can not sue you. If your vehicle was not insured at the time of the accident, the police could give you a ticket for failing to insure the vehicle and for allowing someone else to drive an uninsured vehicle.

What should I do if I was charged with a DUI but never received the paperwork?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
FIND AN EXPERIENCED CRIMINAL LAWYER who practices in the County in which the warrant was issued. It is just barely possible that he could work something out with the prosecutor perhaps by filing a Motion to Dismiss for Failure to Prosecute, or by some other means by which he need not disclose that you made a false statement to the law enforcement person on the scene. Good Luck.

Is there any way to get the DMV to consider the time I already was restricted and not add the extra time and fee?

Hudson Thomas Bair
Answered by attorney Hudson Thomas Bair (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Kapsack & Bair, LLP
The fee is $70, the extra suspension can be turned into a restricted license upon payment of the fee (assuming you have already filed an SR-22 and enrolled in the DUI class). If you didn't hire an attorney that's about all you can expect.
