The short answer:  If the person is actually charged and convicted of a fourth DUI, it can be a felony punishable from one (1) to five (5) years in prison or on probation; 90 days in jail is the minimum, $1000 in fines minimum and up to additional $4,000 in fines. Can a DUI stop me from getting a carrying a concealed weapon?

Answered by attorney Nathaniel D Shafer
DUI/DWI lawyer at Natty Shafer Law
Yes, it can. A conviction for a DUI will result in Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) denying you a concealed carry permit. This period will last for at least 6 years from the end of your probation. You should hire a lawyer immediately to help you avoid a conviction.

Is being arrested for driving under influence of a controlled substance going to make a difference for a repeat offender?

Hudson Thomas Bair
Answered by attorney Hudson Thomas Bair (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Kapsack & Bair, LLP
If this case is in California and this is his seventh within the past ten years he is looking at a very serious case, a felony. He can be prosecuted for DUI even if he was taking only his prescribed medications and at the dosages prescribed. He will need legal representation and the help of a forensic toxicologist and possibly a pharmacologist to avoid prison.
