This happens all the time. Call the judge's office and tell whoever answers that you want to come in and have the bench warrant lifted. They will have you come in that day or the next. When you show up, apologise even though you feel like it was not your fault (it was) and promise the judge you will show up from now on when you are supposed to and maybe he/she will re-appoint your lawyer or appoint you a new one.

If your sentence is a twelve (12) month sentence, then you may very well have a problem with immigration. Traditionally, attorneys have fought to obtain a sentence for their clients which indicates that the total sentence is less than 12 months (typically 11 months 29 days) to avoid having problems with immigration. I am assuming that you have an attorney. If not, you need to retain legal representation immediately.

2 year statute of limitations on misdemeanor DUI.  With that said, they could plausibly prosecute you on the original tickets, but its likely too late for them to add any new charges or accuse the case.  Contact an experienced DUI lawyer in your area.  If your case is around Atlanta, I am available to consult you about the particular facts of your case.  Best of luck.   Evan
