What happens if I do not show up to complete a 45-day jail sentence after having probation revoked?

Gregory Casale

If you fail to surrender yourself as agreed a warrant will issue and sooner or later when you encounter a police officer who runs your name you will be held without bail and transported to the court. That court will probably increase your sentence by charging you with escape or some other crime for failing to appear. I strongly suggest you get this over with while it is only 45 days. Since you have already admitted guilt, you could be sentenced to up to 2.5 years. I would take the 45 days now instead of taking the chance on what it may be increased to later.

What can I do to hopefully avoid jail/more fines after I received a notice for arraignment for DUI Probation Violation?

The judge will not be interested in any of your financial problems. You owe $ 1200 on a $ 500 fine, which means you really haven't spent any money in dealing with your DUI. So, IF I were you, I would make arrangements to spend 5-10 days in jail.

You will pay a fine of at least $1,340, take a 16 hour class that costs about $200, lose your driving privileges for at least 120 days on a first offense, pay $230 to reinstate your license, be required to install an interlock device on any car you operate at a cost of about $1,500 a year, do at least 2 days of jail or 48 hours of community service, pay about $50 and attend a victim impact panel, have your insurance rates go up, and have this crime on your record for at least 10 years.
