Can i get my marriage annulled?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Charles D. Scott (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at The Law Offices of Charles D. Scott PLLC
In Florida, the way to terminate a marriage is to file a petition for dissolution of marriage in the Circuit Court of the county in which you and your husband last resided as husband and wife. Annulment is a religious procedure done by the Catholic Church and will erase your marriage in the eyes of the church as though it never happened. Most annulments go tot he pope for approval and are time consuming and require lots of paperwork. Unfortunately annulments will not legally end the marriage, and you must go through the legal process of divorce in accordance with Florida rules of Family Law and Florida Statute section 61.  If you cannot afford a lawyer, there are do-it-yourself forms available at most court houses.

How long before a default-hearing do I have to respond?

Robert Joseph Merlin
Answered by attorney Robert Joseph Merlin (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Robert J. Merlin, P.A.
If the other side has scheduled a hearing on a Motion for Default, all you have to do is to file an answer before that hearing. Then call the other attorney to confirm that he/she has cancelled the hearing.

Does your spouse get alimony in divorce if she can work and whatever is pack and she took even the car?

Answered by attorney Sabina Tomshinsky
Divorce lawyer at Home Town Law, P.A.
The primary considerations when alimony is in question is the length of the marriage and the ability of the payor spouse to pay alimony and the need of the payee spouse for such alimony. There are other considerations as well. It would be prudent to consult with a divorce attorney in your area for further, specific guidance. Good luck!
