Generally, if you are otherwise competent and know what you are doing, parties are free to enter into settlement agreements that are one-sided.

Can my child and I live with a close friend after Custody has been determined?

Answered by attorney Cindy S. Vova
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Cindy S. Vova, P.A.
As long as there is no restriction as to whom you live with in your court judgment or mediation agreement, you can live wherever you chose within 50 miles (under Florida statutes). Of course, you do need to advice the child's father or your new address and phone number, and usually you are required to advise the court of this change as well. Even if the father is not happy about your choice, as long as your child is in a good environment, the father cannot dictate where you live any more than you can dictate where he lives or who he lives with.
