Monetary issues in a divorce

Thomas Lee Maddox
Answered by attorney Thomas Lee Maddox (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Tommy Lee Maddox, PC
If you are on duty overseas, a stay can be put in place by the Court so nothing will happen in your absence.  Plus, if you do not live in Georgia, or have never lived in Georgia while married, then the Georgia Court will have no personal jurisdiction over you.  She can file an "in rem" divorce which involves the marriage issue alone - no other property or monetary issues.

Can a dissolution be stopped in georgia?

Thomas Lee Maddox

When you say dissolution, are you going through a separation action?  If so, all you have to do is file a counterclaim for a divorce if an Order has not been entered by the Judge.  Otherwise, you'll need to file a new action for divorce.
