What do I do if I get a default judgment in divorce?

Please do not further impose on a mediator to give legal advice. You give no reason to ever expect a default judgment in your case. You should consult with Family Law Facilitator at your Courthouse if you must do this on the cheap.

In many states, including California, it is still possible to file for a dissolution of marriage based upon mental problems of the other spouse. You can just file a petition for dissolution of marriage based upon either irreconcilable differences or mental problems.

What forms do I complete for a dissolution of marriage?

Stephen Marc Drucker

The answer to these questions depend on your particular circumstance.  How long were you married (from the date of marriage to the date of separation)?  Do you have children and/or property?  Is your spouse able to be served and will the spouse be cooperative? The first step in any divorce is to get legal advice so you understand your legal rights and options.  There are some attorneys, like our law firm, that offer a flat fee for divorce. In essence, you can pay an affordable fee for divorce--but it does depend on your circumstance.  Paperwork is one part of a divorce & it's important that it be accurate.  The other part of the divorce is the process which must be correct in order to assure that the divorce will be finalized.
