Can I still get child support for my son who is turning 18 this August since he is going to college in the Fall?

Answered by attorney Amanda Bowden Johnson
Divorce lawyer at The Houser Law Firm, P.C.
No. Not unless you have a formal written Separation Agreement which requires one of the parties to do so. I doubt you have such an Agreement because it would be incredibly stupid to sign an Agreement extending the obligation to pay child support beyond the required period.

You can go to any lawyer, but maybe your best bet would be to contact one of the firms that specializes in QDROs like QDRO Express and see if they can do all you need. Good Luck.

Wife will not let me remove my property from home, she filed for divorce, how do I get my property?

Divorce lawyer at Utah Family Law LC
In Utah, you have a legal right to your own property. You have options for retrieving your property, some of them riskier than others: 1) Assuming there are no court orders that bar you from entering the house, then as long as you don't disturb the peace, you can re-enter your own house to get your things whether your wife "allows" it or not. You might consider waiting until your wife goes to work or church, or out to run errands or for dinner, so that you avoid an acrimonious confrontation outside or inside of the house and avoid her inevitably calling the police. If you've been locked out (because your wife changed the locks), you are well within your rights to hire a locksmith to pick the lock and let you in. It's your house, after all. Again, you might consider waiting until your wife leaves the house for a spell, so that you avoid an acrimonious confrontation or a call to the police. 2) Because your wife has filed for divorce, you could file a motion with the court to allow you to enter the house and remove your personal property.
